Maybelline Baby Lips - review

7:08 AM

Don't look at me like that. I know everybody with a Blogger account has covered these sweet little thangs, and that they are loved like a Paul Rudd shaped body pillow (nightly and in the morning too)
Obviously I'm not revealing anything groundbreaking here, but darn I like these little tubes of hydration.

I impulse-bought two, in Protecting Berry (in a limited edition tube) and Smoothing Cherry last week and they now have happy homes in my purse. Berry smells like a creamy berry yogurt and Cherry reminds me of Panadol Liquid Painkiller for Children, the gluggy pink one. I like both scents and they dissipate quickly.

For some reason I thought these would be tinted, despite seeing every single review and swatch that suggested the opposite, but honestly that ain't no thang. My lips are kept smooth, soft and buttery feeling, and protected by the SPF20+. Not really like baby lips, which I can only assume are snotty, drooling and dripping with remnants of breast milk (try eating after picturing that), but a better version of my own lips, which is pretty darn swell.

Maybelline Baby Lips retail for $3.95, a totally reasonable price for a balm. Bravo, Maybelline.

  1. Hahaha! Only this morning my mini-me and I were eaying how much we loved these too. They rock. I personally wonder how people do 'Survivor' if they aren't allowed to take lip balm. A million dollars wouldn't be enough to make me go three weeks without it! Stuff worrying about no food or bedding, having dry lips would make me flip out like a psycho!

    1. Oh frick, I would never make it on a show like Survivor. I need my lip balm! Imagine not being able to cleanse or use serums. I've just realised I'm a huge sooky princess, but I think I'm ok with it.

  2. Haha my mum sent me these in a care package last year and I have been in love ever since. The packaging is super cute too and I appreciate the Paul Rudd reference (made me LOL at work when I should have been...working)

    1. Aw your mum sounds like a sweetie. These are such neat little balms too, I suspect I'll end up with every scent.

Mmm I think every work day needs more Paul Rudd. He needs to come to Australia so I can interview him 'for work'.

    1. I may have googled Paul Rudd body pillow and there's a place that makes pillows with the image of whoever you want. I think I've found the Boyfriend's birthday present!

  4. I have the cherry one. Don't get me wrong I really love it but it has a really funny chemical/synthetic after taste which puts me off a bit. Probably what you were hinting at with the Cherry Panadol.

    1. Yep, it's not a true cherry scent at all, more sweet chemicals/tropical, but I really like it. I also like swigging Children's Liquid Panadol though, so yeah.

  5. Ooh the cherry one sounds like I might like it, cherry scents can be a bit hit and miss can't they?

    1. It's a very artificial cherry, so depends on your preference. I do have a review coming up on another balm which is a more 'juicy' cherry scent, so look out for that.

  6. I bought one when it first came out, sucked in by the very Stephen Sprouse for LV packaging and the low price (and the fact I need to own 23908420348 lip balms/glosses/sticks/butters/etc). But I'm glad I did, they're a favourite now. I think they got re-released in US with a tinted version? Not sure though.

    1. I love the LE packaging, didn't even look at the scent when I picked it up. They better release the tinted ones here before I buy all of the non-tinted ones, they are just to easy to pick up.
